Vaccination and Health-checks and Consultations
We advise all pets have at least an annual health check. Seniors or pets with medical problems may need more frequent visits.
Vaccinations are available to help prevent serious canine diseases such as Distemper, Parvovirus, Infectious Hepatitis and kennel cough. Feline diseases prevented by vaccination include Feline enteritis, feline viral respiratory disease (cat flu). Rabbits may be vaccinated to prevent Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease.
Desexing/sterilisation surgery is, for some pets, the most major procedure they will have. At Forrestdale Veterinary Hospital we operate using only sterilised instruments, drapes and gowns in our dedicated surgery.
Not only does desexing your pet prevent unwanted breeding, and therefore decrease the number of unwanted pets, it also has important health and behaviour benefits. Please contact us if you would like to have any questions about sterilisation or would any further information.
Microchipping your pet means that even if they lose their collar they are permanently identified and animal shelters, rangers and vets can easily prove ownership. Microchipping involves inserting a chip under the skin of your pet; it is inserted like a vaccination and is a quick, safe procedure. Each microchip has a number which is stored in a national database along with the pet and your details.
It is compulsory for all dogs and cats in WA to be microchipped.
